Montessori Areas of Development
PRACTICAL LIFE: Activities are designed to prepare children for daily living. By teaching them how to interact with their environment, principles of concentration, coordination, self-control, and self-awareness are reinforced. We use real-life materials to mimic everyday activities. This area of learning helps to create independent and confident children.
SENSORIAL: Montessori sensorial activities are meant to help develop the five senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. The lessons and materials are designed to help children clarify, classify, and understand the world around them.
LANGUAGE: Montessori language activities are designed to teach children both written and spoken language. The lessons and materials are used to explore letters, sounds and handwriting, which leads to spelling and writing.
MATHEMATICS: Montessori math activities help children learn math with hands-on and visual learning materials. This allows students to attach concrete knowledge to the often abstract concepts in math.
CULTURE: Montessori Culture activities allow children to explore the larger world around them. Lessons cover a variety of subjects, including Geography, Science, Botany, Zoology, History, Art and Music.
